PLEASE NOTE - Individual CAD files can only be provided for documents developed in-house by Campus Engineering - CAD & Maps staff.
See below for additional information on Consultant CAD files.
What if I need CAD?
Here are a couple of things to know if you are looking for CAD files.
UW Campus Engineering - CAD & Maps
- Developed and produced by our in-house CAD staff (Campus Engineering - CAD & Maps)
- Look for 'R-something' in the document number (i.e. 126RA-1, 900RU-2, etc.)
- Many of the main campus facilities do have floorplans on CAD (RA)
- Contain footprint, room number, and square footage
- Until mid 1990's they were generally updated routinely
- Since mid 1990's they are generally updated only by request
- All revisions are listed in our index
- Generally the document sequence number will give a clue as to floor
- Utilities are often 200 scale (entire main campus) or 50 scale which are keyed to a campus grid (RU)
- Topographic drawings are NOT developed or produced by our in-house CAD staff, but do carry the 'R-something' discipline (RC)
- Other disciplines on CAD include Record Mechanical (RM), Record Electrical (RE), and Record Roof (RR)
- Many of the main campus facilities do have floorplans on CAD (RA)
UW Design Services CAD
- No CAD developed or produced by Design Services prior to mid 1994
- All CAD produced between 1994 and August 1999 is filed by Sheet# (i.e. A9-5268), not Document Number
Consultant CAD
- Consultants are required to submit project As Built drawings on CAD
- Consultants ARE required to submit CAD floorplans to Capital and Space Planning, but not to Campus Engineering - Records, during the design phase
- Consultant CAD received in Campus Engineering - Records is not reviewed, THEREFORE...
- We do not evaluate completeness, compliance, acceptability of submitted consultant CAD
- We do not attempt to match or index submitted consultant CAD files with individually indexed hardcopy drawings that are submitted per our requirements
- We cannot fill a request for the CAD file of an individual consultant drawing
- You would have to request a copy of an ENTIRE CD-Rom/DVD of the CAD files for the associated project
- To find the CAD files submitted for the associated project
- find the PROJECT NUMBER for the consultant drawing you want
- look for a 'CF' listing in our index with the same Project Number (i.e. 099CF-3 in our index with a Project Number of 10221 would be a CD-Rom of consultant CAD files received for Project# 10221 on facility 099)
- if there are no CF's listed for that Project Number, we did not receive any CAD from the consultant for that project yet
- search through the files on that CD-Rom for the document(s) you require
- generally, the CF's will have a media filelist associated with (hyperlinked to) the document number
- To find the CAD files submitted for the associated project
- PLEASE NOTE - Because we do not reveiw the consultant CAD submissions, there is no way for us to know if the files you are looking for will be among the CAD that was submitted with the project
- You would have to request a copy of an ENTIRE CD-Rom/DVD of the CAD files for the associated project
