The Facilities Services Training Center (FS TC) is Now Open
On April 25th Facilities Services sponsored an employee open house with demonstrations and tours of the training center. The Grand Opening on May 23rd held a ribbon cutting ceremony with comments from Charles Kennedy, Associate Vice President Facilities Services, President Michael Young, University of Washington President and V’Ella Warren Senior Vice President for Finance and Facilities.
The FS TC was designed for the FS employees and features three classrooms that can be opened up to comfortably hold 140 people for large classes and meetings. The center piece of the large conference room is a wood table which was built by our carpentry shop. For more hands-on training the FS TC has two dry labs and a wet lab. If you are interested in requesting a room at the training center, please go the sidebar and click on the Request a Room link.
Our course catalog which is also on the side bar shows the classes we will be offering in addition to the safety classes. We also have begun working with small groups on computer training. Please call the training center if you have ideas about work related classes you may want. Here are a few pictures of the Training Center:
Facilities Services Training Academy
The way we do work at Facilities Services has changed dramatically in the past several years. The combination of reduced state budgets and the introduction of Lean principles have created an emerging work culture. This new culture requires that all levels of the organization are prepared to take on the challenges that Facilities Services will face in the future. Mary Jo Blahna, FS Training Manager, along with other members of the leadership team have been busy working to develop a curriculum to help meet the changing needs of Facilities Services.
