Employee Communication

EMPLOYEE COMMUNICATIONS

The University of Washington is a large, complex, public institution. There is a great deal of information to be communicated and made available to employees. The rules, regulations, policies, and procedures that apply to most aspects of your work life are published and made available through a variety of media. Every employee is responsible for following them. Employees are expected and encouraged to familiarize themselves with the following:

UW Web Page

The University information about benefits, campus activities, employee resources and assistance, and University policies and procedures for its staff, faculty and students on the Web page located at:

http://www.washington.edu/uwin/

Many Facilities Services employees work at computers. For those who do not, computer access is provided to ensure that employees can access the information available through the University’s Web pages. Ask your supervisor about computer access available to you in your department.

University Week

University Week is a newspaper for the faculty and staff of the University of Washington. It is issued in print biweekly (except during quarter breaks), and mailed to all UW employees. It can also be viewed online at http://www.uweek.org/. It includes news, feature stories and photographs, new or revised UW policies, a comprehensive calendar of campus events, and official notices that often contain information on general operations and employment matters.

Policies and Procedures

Employees are encouraged to ask the administrative staff in the office of their units, or their supervisors, for assistance in identifying and locating specific policies or procedures.

Print copies of the University’s Administrative Policy Statements are located in the main offices of each of the Facilities Services departments and divisions. These are also online at:

Copies of the Facilities Services Safety manual may be found in any Facilities Services unit office, or from your supervisor, manager or safety representative.
