BENEFITS
The University of Washington offers an excellent benefits package to its faculty and staff. Included are medical and dental insurance, retirement, tuition exemption, Hometown Home Loan and Voluntary Investment Program (VIP). As part of your UW General Orientation, these benefits will be explained to you. PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION
The University encourages the use of alternatives to single-occupant vehicles for commuting to campus by providing subsidies for use of public transportation and providing priority and lower cost parking for carpools and van pools All on-campus employee parking of private vehicles is assigned by area and can be paid monthly through payroll deduction. The University of Washington provides subsidies for monthly and annual transit passes (UPASS). Online information about the many benefits of the UPASS program may be found on the UPASS Web page at http://www.washington.edu/commuterservices/

HOLIDAYS
University of Washington employees receive ten paid holidays each year and one personal holiday. The personal holiday may be used after the employee has completed four months of continuous employment. The personal holiday must be requested and approved in advance, used for a single eight-hour day, and must be used before the end of each calendar year as personal holidays do not accrue and are lost if not used.
The ten paid holidays are:

- Presidents’ Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Veterans’ Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Day After Thanksgiving
- Christmas Day
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE
UW CareLink is a service provided for University of Washington to assist its employees and their household members with confidential short-term assistance in personal and workplace issues and other financial and legal consulting services. For an appointment or to access services, call toll free: 1-866-598-3978. Callers can receive program information, problem assessment and referral and, if needed, immediate access to licensed professionals for emergent situations. There is an additional 24-hour Crisis Hotline at 1-800-833-3031.
