  • BEST Business for an Environmentally Sustainable Tomorrow Water Conservation Award, May 2004 — For demonstrating proactive environmental leadership.
  • 2004 EnviroStars 5-Star Certification, January 2004 — To the Motor Pool for proper environmental management and hazardous waste reduction.
  • 2004 WSRA Institution of Higher Education “Recycler of the Year” Award (Motor Pool) — For innovative programs.
  • 2004 WSRA Institution of Higher Education “Recycler of the Year” Award (Property & Transport Services) — for diverting 610 tons of surplused material from landfill by reselling or recycling.

  • Individual Conference Champion, 2006-2007 — Purchasing the most green power than any other school in the Pacific-10 Conference (named by The Environmental Protection Agency)

  • The University of Washington received an overall grade of B- from the Sustainable Endowments Institute’s “College Sustainability Report Card 2007”.

  • The University of Washington received an overall grade of A- from the Sustainable Endowments Institute’s “College Sustainability Report Card 2008”. Special recognition as an “Overall College Sustainability Leader”.
