Batteries
The University of Washington recycles all types of batteries. Batteries cannot be placed in the trash because they contain corrosive acids and toxic metals. Businesses, including the UW, are also required to recycle alkaline batteries, even though households can place them in the trash.
Fewer than 5 pounds
If you have fewer than five pounds of batteries, place them in the nearest e.Media bin.

To request a collection of more than five pounds of batteries, including large research and heavy equipment batteries, or laptop batteries, fill out and mail or fax to Environmental Health & Safety the Battery Collection Request form.
