Christy D. Gullion
Director
Christy serves as the chief DC advocate for the University of Washington. She has nearly two decades of experience working for a variety of federal, state, and local agencies, and was appointed director of federal relations for the UW in February 2009. Most recently, Christy served as director of federal relations for Washington2Advocates, a government affairs consulting firm, where she was responsible for managing lobbying strategies for multiple and diverse clientele (including the University of Washington), as well as building and maintaining successful relationships with members of Congress and their staff.
Prior to her work in the private sector, Christy served as northwest Washington director for U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, chief of staff to King County Council member Bob Ferguson and as a legislative analyst for U.S. Rep. Brian Baird. Christy holds a bachelor’s degree (Education) from Central Washington University and an M.P.A. from The Evergreen State College.
Jonathan T. Nurse
Assistant Director
Jonathan joined the University of Washington Office of Federal Relations team in September 2008. He is responsible for advocacy on behalf of the University with federal officials, both on Capitol Hill and within the federal agencies, on legislative and funding issues that affect higher education in general and the University of Washington in particular. Jonathan also works closely with several national higher education associations.
Prior to assuming his role with the University of Washington, Jonathan was employed by a top-25 lobbying firm as a senior associate. His policy areas of focus included higher education, homeland security/criminal justice, and municipal governance. Jonathan’s previous professional experiences included several years in the private sector, as well as in local and state government. He received both a bachelor’s degree (Political Science) and master’s (Public Policy) from The George Washington University located in Washington, D.C., where he was also recognized as a Presidential Fellow.
Maggie Mount
Administrator
Maggie is a graduate of the University of Washington, where she received her master’s degree in social work. She worked for several years for social service organizations before she became more administratively oriented and accepted a position for the Committee on Public Works and Transportation in the U.S. House of Representatives. Maggie also has experience managing trade associations and a large church office.
