11/06/2007 2nd Annual UW Building Emergency Responder Summit

UWEM, in cooperation with C&C, Media Relations & Communications, hosted the 2nd Annual UW Building Emergency Responder Summit on Tuesday, November 6, 2007. This event was open to all UW staff, but primarily for staff responsible for building safety and disaster response (Building Coordinators, Evacuation Wardens, UW CERT, Department Administrators, Health & Safety Committee members...). The focus of this year's summit was on campus crisis communication: how information on critical campus events are transmitted to key building staff. Staff was updated on new and proposed processes and tools on how we communicate with our campus population. UWEM, in cooperation with UW Police, Facilities Services, EH&S and Seattle Fire, hosted the 1st Building Responder Summit on Tuesday, October 24, 2006. This event was open to all UW staff, but primarily for staff responsible for building safety and disaster response (Building Coordinators, Evacuation Wardens, UW CERT, Department Administrators, Health & Safety Committee members...) Quakefest Quake Fest Moulage The Next Step

Quakefest Are you REALLY ready for “The Big One” or even smaller earthquakes or emergencies? Come to QuakeFest and find out what you need to do to be prepared for earthquakes, storms, the pandemic flu, and the latest disaster du jour. This fun and informational event will include exhibits on personal preparedness and what the UW is doing to be disaster resistant. Along with UW Emergency Management and other campus departments, King County, City of Seattle, NOAA, the American Red Cross and other agencies will be on hand to help you be better prepared for all emergencies. Exhibits/presentations will show you how to build a disaster plan & kit; safeguard your home against earthquakes; & minimize your exposure to the flu. The Burke Museum and UW Seismology Lab will have an exhibit on the Puget Sound region's earthquakes; and NOAA will be on hand to tell you all about our northwest weather.
