Siri-Elizabeth McLean, CEM, ABCP, MEP
Plans & Training Manager
Siri bleeds purple and is a Husky at heart as she holds two degrees from the University of Washington: Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Communication and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Planning for Critical Infrastructure.
After finishing her master’s degrees she spent the first two years of her career as the Emergency Response Plan Coordinator for Microsoft. When the opportunity arose to return to her alma mater she jumped in with everything she had. For the past six years Siri has held the position of Plans and Training Manager with the University Of Washington Department Of Emergency Management. Her responsibilities include developing training programs for students, faculty and staff with a focus on disaster preparedness. She also develops and manages all mitigation plans and grants, assists in the development and update of department disaster plans, policies and procedures. The other half of her job entails training all Emergency Operations Center (EOC) responders which includes designing and conducting disaster exercises and as a FEMA accredited Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP).
Her accreditations include: Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) from the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM), Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) from Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII)
And to add a lighter side to what is often a heavy stressful job she is the co-founder of the Pacific Northwest Disaster Divas, a group of women emergency managers in the northwest providing an avenue for mentoring and social outlet.
