Siri-Elizabeth McLean Biography

Plans & Training Manager

As the Plans and Training Manager with UW Emergency Management, Siri’s responsibilities include developing new training programs for students, faculty and researchers. Her focus is on disaster preparedness, campus outreach and public education about personal preparedness. She also develops and manages all mitigation plans and grants, assists in the development and update of department disaster plans, policies and procedures, and works on drills and in the EOC as a key staff assistant.

Currently Siri is the Chair of the Executive Board that produces the Partners in Emergency Preparedness Conference.

Siri is a Husky at heart having received two degrees from the UW. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Communication and recently completed her Masters Degree in Strategic Planning for Critical Infrastructure in the School of Architecture and Urban Planning.

Before coming to the UW she worked as an emergency planner at Microsoft in Redmond, WA. Born and raised in the northwest she enjoys anything that involves getting outside and experiencing all the beauty this region offers. She lives in Redmond and can often be found out on the trail rollerblading or bike riding. Her children consist of two sister kitties that keep her highly entertained!
