Thank you for your support of this program during our 2003-2008 pilot process.

The training is delivered by veteran professionals from emergency management, nursing, fire fighting, search and rescue and disaster psychology. Class topics include:

  • Personal Disaster Preparedness
  • Light Urban Search and Rescue
  • Light Fire Suppression
  • Disaster Medical Care
  • Medical Triage
  • The Incident Command System
  • University Emergency Management's "All Hazards" Approach to Emergency Planning and Response

Each CERT graduate will be issued disaster response equipment and will be assigned to a CERT team in their building or area.

All University Faculty and Staff are welcome to attend. Each class size is optimal at 30, so the first 30 applicants will be accepted. Those interested may contact UW Emergency Management at disaster@u.washington.edu
