Gates Millenium Scholarship Workshop Announcement

Now that we are nearly two weeks into January, it’s time to turn our attentions to two big things: the FAFSA and scholarships. What if we told you that there was the opportunity to work on BOTH this weekend?

If you live in the greater Seattle area (or will be in the area this weekend) the Seattle Public Library will be hosting a College Goal Sunday and also the Scholarship Junkies Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) workshop!

That’s right, this weekend students will not only have the chance to work on filing their FAFSA but also receive personal help from nearly 20 Gates Scholars and Alumni who will help brainstorm, read, and review students’ GMS essays.

Here are the event details:

The event will be held at the Downtown branch of the Seattle Public Library from 10:30-5:30.

Please let us know if you plan to attend by RSVPing via SJ’s GMS workshop sign up page. If you would like any additional tips on the GMS, please check out the Scholarship Junkies fantastic blog post on the GMS!

We know that the GMS application can be a very long and difficult process (after all, writing eight essays clearly means applicants have to work!), but the potential payoff is enormous: Recipients of the scholarship will get a full-ride scholarship to ANY accredited college or university. There will be 1000 students selected to receive this honor, and we want to be able to support our mentees in any way we can.

Hope to see Dream Project represent!
