AWW Recap and Spring BBQ Save the Date

Admissions Workshop Weekend

Admissions Workshop Weekend

Admissions Workshop Weekend this past fall quarter was a success! Over 250 high school students came to work with us on their post-secondary plans–mostly college applications. We had a Resource Fair where colleges from around the region came to talk with students about specific programs and financial aid options available at their schools. We also modified our workshop schedule to make sure that most students had opportunities to attend. Topics included scholarships, personal statements, and careers in sports which debuted this year. Hundreds of volunteers came and supported the event–including alumni, community members, and Dream Project mentors. We hope for an even more successful event next year!

Save the Date!: Spring BBQ

Friday, May 18th, 2018

Spring BBQ is our biggest event of the year and one that the entire program looks forward to. During this event, high school juniors from all of our partner schools take a field trip to visit the UW Seattle campus where we provide tours, lunch, and interesting lectures from UW faculty members. This event allows the students to get a first-hand experience of what college is like. For many of them, this will be their first time being on a college campus. The goal is to make it an amazing experience that allows them to truly imagine themselves in a similar place in the coming years. Overall, the event is a chance for students to start thinking about post-secondary plans. This year, Spring BBQ will be held on Friday, May 18th at UW Seattle campus.
