Admissions Workshop Weekend (AWW) Preview

By Morgan Lantz
Events Coordinator

On Saturday, November 19th, 2016, 700+ low-income and first-generation high school students from the Puget Sound region will come to the University of Washington–Seattle campus for the annual Admissions Workshop Weekend (AWW). College admissions counselors, writing tutors and mentors will assist students with all parts of the college application process.

The 2015 AWW Planning Committee, made up of various staff members and mentors

This year we are also offering something new: drop-in workshops to support students with personal statements, scholarships, and financial aid! This is especially important because of the new open date for the FAFSA and WASFA in October.

Haley Strandberg and I (Morgan Lantz), along with Americorps member Emily Murphy and AWW committee leads, are hard at work to make sure the event goes smoothly and is even better than last year’s. We hope to have an even more successful event this year!

If you would like to volunteer at this year’s event, please fill out the form at the following link: Volunteer Sign-Up Form. [http://www.washington.edu/dreamproject/events/aww/]

High school students from non-partner schools are also welcome to participate in AWW. If you would like to extend the invitation to students from non-partner schools, please have the student fill out the form at dreamproject.org/aww

We are looking forward to hosting our mentees on campus and we hope to see you there!
