Do you love mentoring? Do you have a passion for science, technology, math, and/or art? Well, the STEAM Team encompasses each and every one of these fields. If you enjoy helping kids pursue their own passions, check out this new opportunity to join the STEAM Team.
The STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) team is comprised of University of Washington Undergraduate students pursuing majors in related fields. Each week, the members work in the Tinkering Studio to work with High Point Neighborhood House students. It involves projects that give students a chance to explore their interests in tinkering and solving problems, whether that be through technology, engineering, or art to name a few.
While creating amazing projects from a fusion of science, art and technology, STEAM Team mentors will also attend a seminar to better learn to support students interested in STEM professions.
The STEAM opportunity works with middle and high school students through a one year commitment, where you can earn 2 credits per quarter. With transportation provided, it’s an easy way to continue your mentoring experience and meet new people. Interested for more information? There are still two information session at Mary Gates Hall 258 on Thursday the 8th at 3 p.m., and Monday the 12th at 10 a.m. Applications are due by the 14th of May, so apply soon!
