International Human Rights Day and Education

By Lauren Martin

International Human Rights Day

Today, December 10, is International Human Rights Day! On this day in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) was adopted by the United Nations. This is a powerful document that enumerates rights that are universal to every single human being on earth, no matter what.

Article 26 of the UDHR states, “Everyone has the right to education.” Everyone. All of you reading, regardless of your background, race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, primary language, zip code, or socioeconomic status—every single person. The Dream Project is proud to be a part of this, to be fulfilling Article 26 with every visit, every week. We believe with all we have that everyone has a right to an education. Thank you to everyone for being a part of this.
