The following Ambassadors began participating in DO-IT as Scholars in 1996. They continue to pursue college and career goals and encourage younger DO-IT Scholars and Ambassadors.

David, '96 Scholar

ADD, dyslexia, and dysgraphia
Graduated from Eastern Washington University with a bachelor's degree. Majored in microbiology and minored in computer science and chemistry. Works as a molecular microbiologist for Midwest Research Institute in Florida.

Cheri, '96 Scholar

Paraplegia
Graduated with a bachelor's degree in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Arizona. Completed fifth year as a medical student at Stanford University in 2008. Competitor in the Beijing Paralympics. Will begin residency in summer 2009 and maintains a website at http://www.cheriblauwet.com/.

Earned a degree in computer science from Eastern Connecticut State University.

Attended Eastern Oregon State College.

Hearing impairment
Graduated magna cum laude with a degree in graphic communications from Minnesota State University. Works for NASA. Co-author of several books and articles.

Attended Western Oregon University, majoring in public policy and administration. Works for the Oregon Department of Justice and Benton County Sheriff's Office.

Earned a degree in social work from the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute for Technology.

Attended San Diego State University, studying political science and interior design with an interest in designing accessible homes. Mentor for the Center for Emerging Leadership.

Katrina, '96 Scholar

Diabetes
Earned a bachelor's degree in English and art from Augustana College and a master's degree in teaching from City University. Returned to Washington State to pursue a career as a teacher. Works for Catholic Community Services with at-risk youth and families.

Cerebral palsy
Earned a doctoral degree from Iowa State University and completed first post-doctoral fellowship in exercise physiology. Began second postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California San Diego this past summer in phospholipase C-mediated signal transduction.

Anh, '96 Scholar

Larsen syndrome
Earned a bachelor's degree in economic finances and information technology management and a master's degree in city and regional planning from the University of California, Berkeley.

Blind
Graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor's degree in computer science and is a production manager for TecAccess, an accessibility consulting firm that specializes in software and web accessibility.

Earned a degree in graphic design from University of Massachusetts. Works as a graphic designer.

Muscular dystrophy
Earned an associate's degree in horticulture science from Hawkeye Community College. Owns a nursery and garden shop, specializing in water gardens and hostas and does landscape design as well as freelance web design. Has written several articles published in the Hosta Journal, the publication of the American Hosta Society.
