UW-IT (University of Washington Information Technology) staff from Access Technology and DO-IT collaborated with the newly established Research Center for Neurotechnology (CNT) to help ensure the center's website and services are accessible to visitors with disabilities. Funded by an $18.5 million grant from the National Science Foundation, the center will work to develop brain-controlled robotic hands or limbs for amputees and people with spinal cord injuries and neurological diseases. UW-IT staff helped plan an accessible showroom for the center's products, and worked with center staff to recruit individuals with disabilities - including post-9/11 veterans - to engage as product testers and interns in research labs.
