Hi. My name is Dulce. I am originally from Mexico. I have one brother and three sisters. I attend Seattle Central Community College. My favorite classes are reading and English, and I plan to become a counselor or a chef. My favorite sport is soccer. My hobbies are chatting with friends and family, reading fiction, using the computer, and playing sports. I also have two part-time jobs.
My name is Shavonne. I was born with spina bifida. In my free time I love to read, write stories, and talk to my boyfriend and friends on my computer and on the phone. I am a sophomore at Central Washington University. I plan to study biology with a pre-med focus. It is my hope to then go on to medical school and become a podiatrist. Hi. My name is Jenny. I have cerebral palsy. I received my diploma from Naches Valley High School and will attend Yakima Valley Community College. I earned scholarships for college. In my career, I hope to work as a public relations advocate for people with disabilities. I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience at DO-IT and hope to pass on what I have learned to others. Hi! My name is Kayla. Last year I had an incredible experience working for the Americorps organization, City Year, running a suspension program at a middle school in SeaTac, WA. It was great working with students who don't normally have someone in their lives to talk to. I was awarded an Americorps Scholarship, which I will use to continue my education at Bellevue Commnity College. Eventually I want to earn a degree in psychology or business. My name is Daren. I graduated from Kentwood High School and Green River Community College. I plan to attend a four-year college and major in business administration. I would like to earn a master's degree. I'm very athletic and enjoy swimming, track-and-field, rock climbing, and putting a smile on people's faces. Hi! My name is Bella and I have cerebral palsy. I use quad canes, a bugsy walker (for aerobic exercise), or a wheelchair, and I also need enlarged visual materials. I graduated from Nathan Hale High School where art, language arts, and drama were my favorite classes. I'm now finishing my last year of transition at Hale, looking forward to going to Shoreline Community College next year. As part of my vocational training, I volunteer as a teacher's assistant at the Meadowbrook Cooperative Preschool. My hobbies include babysitting, acting, reading, walking my dogs, and singing in the Nathan Hale choir. I also participate in the Seattle Public Theater youth program at the Bathhouse Theater. This summer I was in the play The Once and Future King. My career goals are to act in the theater, create art, and work in a daycare or preschool.
I'm Zach, I graduated from Camas High School, and I attend Portland Community College where I am working toward an associate's degree in fire science in order to pursue a career as a firefighter. My favorite classes are math and fire science. Outside of school, I like to work out and hang out with my friends. I have dysgraphia, which means that I have trouble writing. Hey. My name is Marlen, and I have learning disabilities that affect my spelling, grammar, reading, and math. I graduated from Orcas Island High School and currently attend college. My favorite subject is science, and I would like to be a dentist. I enjoy swimming in the middle of the night at Cascade Lake and going to Mount Constitution. Hi. My name is Andrew. I attend the University of Portland and I am majoring in Spanish and English. I love math, law, writing, dance, soccer, and people. The first four weeks of college found me with left lower lobe pneumonia and, as a result, I questioned my readiness for school. Support from my parents encouraged me to stay in school. I am glad I did. I was the starting goalkeeper for the school's club soccer team and I was thrilled to be part of something bigger than myself. College was good last year, and it's going to be so much better this year.

My learning disability has been a challenge, but, at the same time, it has made me aware of labels put on people. Our differences make us very special people in life! Love who you are. My disability is Asperger's syndrome, although disability is somewhat of an ironic term for it, as I feel that had I not been born with it, I wouldn't have as much potential as I do.
