In this unit, students use rulers, meter sticks, and measuring tapes to measure classroom objects and their own bodies, and they use balsa wood, card stock, scissors, and tape to build models. These activities may present challenges to some students with mobility impairments, and some activities may also present challenges to students with visual impairments or learning disabilities. Make sure students are accommodated to the greatest extent possible. Have students work with partners or in small groups so that each student can contribute according to his or her strengths.
