Alliance Affiliate Application

Are you interested in promoting the inclusion of students with disabilities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics academic programs and careers?

If so, then join us as an Affiliate with DO-IT's Northwest Alliance for Access to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics!

DO-IT (Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking, and Technology) at the University of Washington supports college-capable students with disabilities as they pursue challenging academic programs and careers. DO-IT's Northwest Alliance for Access to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (called the Alliance or AccessSTEM) is a five-year project funded by the National Science Foundation (Cooperative Agreement #0227995). The purpose of the project is to increase the number of people with disabilities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers. The Alliance supports and encourages students with disabilities who show interest and aptitude in STEM through mentoring, peer support, work experiences, and other activities as they transition to college, graduate school, and employment.

Most project efforts are focused in the Northwest region – in the states of Washington, Alaska, Idaho, and Oregon. However, outreach and dissemination efforts extend nationwide. The Alliance brings together successful practices and builds on established collaborations with ENTRY POINT!, MESA, postsecondary institutions and high schools. The Alliance offers students with disabilities the opportunity to participate in an on-line community with mentors, exploration activities, and paid student internships with college researchers and employers in STEM fields.

We are recruiting individuals and organizations to join this effort as Alliance Affiliates.
