Assistive Technology FSU has computer labs on campus with assistive technology (AT) available for use by students with disabilities. Products currently available include JAWS, Kurzweil 3000, Dragon Naturally Speaking, ZoomText, Duxberry, and a Braille embosser. Laptops are available for checkout from SDRC. The Theodore and Vivian Johnson Adaptive Technology lab located at 10 Kellum Hall is open to any students that are registered with the SDRC. This lab is open Monday-Thursday, 8:00AM -8:30PM and Fridays, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. Any student who requires information or training on AT or for the locations of equipped computer labs on campus may contact SDRC for assistance at 850-644-9566 or sdrc@admin.fsu.edu. Florida State University Scholarship Opportunities Theodore R. And Vivian M. Johnson Scholarship This scholarship is for undergraduate students with disabilities and with a 2.0 GPA. DEADLINE for application materials is due no later than May 15th. Application is available at http://www.disabilitycenter.fsu.edu/. Learning Disabilities Merit Scholarship This scholarship is available for two students who have a learning disability, have completed one year (two semesters), and at least 18 credit hours of coursework at FSU and maintain at least a 3.2 GPA. Florida Council Of The Blind This scholarship is available to four outstanding students with visual impairments. Awards up to $1,500. Applications must be postmarked no later than March 31. The Association for Creating Community Equality for Seminole Students (ACCESS) ACCESS is a student group facilitated for and by students with and without disabilities at FSU. The goal of ACCESS is to provide an outlet where students can come together to exchange ideas and information that will help improve campus life for all students. National Internships, Scholarships for Students with Disabilities The Washington Center Scholarship Program for College Students with Disabilities The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars offers 50 scholarships to college students with disabilities interested in working in the executive, judicial, or legislative branches of the federal government. Scholarships are available for spring and fall. The deadline for fall is June 15, 2006. Applications are available by request from info@twc.edu or online at http://www.twc.edu. Ethel Louise Armstrong Foundation, Inc. (ELA) ELA provides scholarships to women with physical disabilities who are enrolled in college. Awards are based on merit.
