My name is Silvia. I was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bone or glass bones), I was attending Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA, for a Bachelor's degree in business, but I had to take a year off due to my health. Hopefully I can make up the lost time. I enjoy listening to all sorts of music. I have managed to do well in school with all the obstacles that I have, not just physically, but also financially, and with immigration to worry about. All my hard work has paid off because I sorted out my legal and financial status. I have another health barrier, but I hope this situation gets resolved soon.

I have a visual impairment; in class I use an assistive device called a JORDY, which is basically a set of digital binoculars that helps me see overheads and PowerPoint presentations. I have large print textbooks and get extra time to take tests. I currently work in a research lab on the UW campus studying gene expression and Muscular Dystrophy.
