The Ohio STEM Ability Alliance's Faculty and Advisor Learning Community (F&ALC) program offered science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) faculty and advisors an opportunity to focus on and discuss different methods for teaching and advising STEM students with disabilities as part of a community of peers. The learning community has revitalized the advising and career development of STEM faculty and staff at Ohio State University (OSU) by establishing a community across STEM disciplines. STEM faculty and staff volunteered to participate in the learning community and worked together to develop a wiki and a teaching enhancement plan that will assist faculty and staff in better supporting STEM students with disabilities. Participants met for monthly sessions organized by peer facilitators (Dr. Teresa Johnson and Dr. John Merrill, pictured in front of the F&ALC poster) and utilized supports provided by the OSU Center for the Advancement of Teaching. Many members have decided to continue their participation with the learning community and are currently recruiting additional members.
