A Virtual Honor
The DO-IT program (Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking, and
Technology) has been named a finalist in the first National Information
Infrastructure Awards, which recognizes outstanding achievement using the
information highway. DO-IT was one of 36 finalists chosen from more than
500 entries via a "virtual judging system" linking more than 130 judges
nationwide. DO-IT enables high school students with disabilities to
explore careers in science, engineering and mathematics. The students
learn to use technology to become more independent and productive.
