Check Spelling of Email Messages

DESCRIPTION

PINE has a spell-checking feature built in. It compares the words in your electronic mail message to words in its dictionary and then highlights words that it does not recognize. This way you may choose to change the spelling of words before sending your message. Note that, since it doesn't understand context, it may not highlight words that are used incorrectly. Also, it will highlight words that are spelled correctly but do not happen to be in its dictionary.

PROCEDURE

  1. From within PINE, type "c" to compose a message.

  2. Type the "To", "cc", and "Subject" information as prompted, pressing <Return> after each entry.

  3. Type your message.

  4. Press <CTRL> and "t" simultaneously. The spell-checker will highlight words that it cannot locate in the Pine dictionary. Press <Return> if you do not wish to change the spelling of a word. Make changes and then press <Return> if you wish to change the spelling of a word.

  5. The spell-checker will automatically quit once it has checked your entire message. If you wish to discontinue using the spell-checker before that time, press <CTRL> and "c" simultaneously.
