Search Engines

DESCRIPTION

Search engines scour the Web based on content words or phrases you specify. Each of the choices below has unique search area strengths, so it is good to try several sites.

PROCEDURES

  1. Use your WWW browser to access the sites whose URL's are:
    Alta Vista
    http://altavista.digital.com

    Excite
    http://www.excite.com

    InfoSeek
    http://www.infoseek.com

    Lycos
    http://www.lycos.com

    WebCrawler
    http://www.webcrawler.com

    Yahoo
    http://www.yahoo.com

    clnet search. com
    http://www.search.com

    MetaCrawler
    http://www.metacrawler.com

  2. Compare the search engines by typing in the same keywords at each one. Compare the results. Use the capabilities of your browser to save one or more of the sites for future use.

  3. Use the exit command to quit your WWW browser.
