Did You Know?

Documents created in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) are difficult for blind computer users to access.

For computer users who are blind, documents using PDF are difficult, if not impossible, to read using screen readers and/or refreshable Braille displays. When materials are provided on a Web site in PDF format, an alternative version should also be available in plain text or HTML format. In addition, graphics material such as pictures, graphs and maps should be fully described with text so that blind users can read the context with speech and Braille output systems.
