The side effects of some medications impact learning.

While medications can improve quality of life and sometimes save lives, side effects can have a significant impact on performance in academic settings. Vision disturbance (blurring), poor concentration, and memory deficits are associated with many medications used for metabolic, heart, and inflammatory disorders. Medications for psychiatric conditions may also cause drowsiness, difficulties with fine motor control due to tremors, and even involuntary movements called tics.
