Did You Know?

You do not need to change academic requirements for students with disabilities.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) does not require "special treatment" for people with disabilities, only the opportunity for equal participation in the university's programs. There is no obligation to change academic requirements that the university "can demonstrate are essential to the program of instruction...or to any directly related licensing requirement." The university is required to provide students with documented disabilities appropriate academic adjustments and auxiliary aids to facilitate their fullest possible participation in academic programs.
