Adaptive technology specialists are computer access experts.

Adaptive technology specialists have special training in technology-related assistance for individuals with disabilities, in addition to general knowledge in the areas of rehabilitation and education. These people have a variety of backgrounds including rehabilitation counselors, rehabilitation engineers, therapists, and educators. Typically, they are responsible for assessing an individual's ability to access computer technology and recommending adaptive technology solutions. They are also responsible for keeping up with new technologies, applying emerging technologies, as well as providing technical assistance and training to professionals and consumers. Large campuses often employ adaptive technology specialists.
