Many disabilities are not visible.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) defines disability as "a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities." A mental impairment is generally invisible and is defined by the ADA as "...any mental or psychological disorder, such as specific learning disabilities, emotional or mental illness, and organic brain syndrome."
