Did You Know?

Inadequate health insurance is considered a major problem among many adults with disabilities.

In a 1998 survey of adults with disabilities, 23% percent indicated that inadequate health insurance was a major problem. One in five adults with disabilities did not get the medical care they needed. Although most individuals with disabilities (90%) are covered by health insurance, they are more likely than other adults to state that they are dissatisfied with their health care services. They are also more likely to have special needs (e.g., equipment, therapies, medicine) that are not covered by their health insurance plans.
