The Northwest Burn Foundation's Annual Summer Camp for young
burn survivors held at Camp Waskowitz each July serves children aged 7
to 18 in Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho and Alaska who have
burn-related injuries. All costs for the week-long camp are covered
by the Northwest Burn Foundation, including transportation to the
rustic camp in the Cascade foothills near North Bend, Washington.
DO-IT offers basic electronic mail and World Wide Web sessions
for every camper. Those who especially enjoy computing work in a team
put the camp activities on-line in a camp home page. Older campers can
choose to attend a college transition chat to get friendly advice and
hear the war stories of DO-IT Ambassadors and Mentors who are already
on campus.
Campers also enjoy swimming, archery, outdoor games, hiking,
river rafting, nightly campfires and much, much more. The camp staff
includes adult burn survivors, firefighters, burn care professionals
and other community members who volunteer their time to make this a
special and rewarding experience for all who attend.
