Higher Education:The next frontier of the civil rights movement

"What are we teaching our students when we require people of color to leave significant parts of themselves outside the gates of the University?"

Professor Matsuda has been breaking new ground in everything that she has done. As the first tenured female Asian American law professor in the United States, Matsuda is, in her own words, an ^Óactivist scholar.^Ô A powerful practitioner of critical race theory, she can also be credited as one of its developers. Matsuda is a nationally recognized expert on legal history, civil rights, feminist theory, affirmative action, and hate speech, and is the author of numerous articles and books.
