If you feel you need immediate assistance due to being in crisis (i.e. feeling like you may seriously harm yourself or another person(s), death of a loved one, hearing voices, physical or sexual assault, not being able to function due to extreme psychological distress), the Counseling Center provides urgent care services. You may meet briefly and confidentially with a counselor anytime between 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays. (Please note that it is best to come in before 3:30 p.m. so that we may have adequate time to address your concerns.)
These urgent care meetings typically focus on helping you cope with immediate stressors that are significantly reducing your ability to function, and determining next steps that may be helpful. Because these consultations are not scheduled, you may experience a wait to be seen, usually not more than 1 hour. Please note that you will be asked to complete paperwork so that we can help you as efficiently and as effectively as possible.
If you are experiencing a crisis situation after hours and cannot wait until we are open, please call the Crisis Clinic at (206) 461-3222 or toll-free at 1-866-427-4747. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please dial 911.
