Updated masking policy for healthcare workers (Message to UW Medicine employees)

Based on current levels of COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths, and subject to some exceptions, masking will no longer be required in all public and clinical settings as of Monday, July 10. Healthcare workers are required to wear a mask in higher risk spaces and with specific patient populations as well as when requested to by a patient, or when a patient is wearing one. The masking policy is subject to change if there are signs of increased COVID-19 or other respiratory illness activity in the community.

COVID-19 vaccine availability for children ages 6 months through 4 years (Message to UW Medicine patients)

We are pleased to report that children under 5, as young as six months, are now eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine following recent authorizations from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Children ages 5 to 11 now eligible for COVID-19 vaccine booster (Message to UW Medicine patients)

Based on updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), UW Medicine is now providing a single booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to all children ages 5 to 11 who have completed their primary, two-dose series at least five months prior.

Pfizer vaccine boosters available for 12- to 15-year-olds (Message to UW Medicine patients)

Based on updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), UW Medicine is now providing booster doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to all patients 12 years of age and older who completed their primary Pfizer vaccine series at least five months previously.

UW Medicine is pleased to announce that it has opened a COVID-19 vaccine appointment waitlist for children ages 5 to 11 in anticipation of new recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) next week.
