-
Start QuickTime Player.
-
On the File menu, select Open URL.
-
Type the URL of hinted.mov on the streaming server:
rtsp://qtmedia.type.washington.edu/userid/hinted.mov
Substitute type and userid appropriately, refering to the QuickTime URL Reference for help.
-
Click OK.
Now QuickTime Player will connect to the streaming server and request a stream of your movie.
Troubleshooting
When you open a URL in QuickTime Player, the status area displays messages about the status of the resulting stream. These messages can be used to troubleshoot some problems.
| Message | Description |
|---|---|
| Configuring... Negotiating... Buffering... | QuickTime Player is connecting to the server and is filling its buffer before attempting to play your stream. |
| 415: Unsupported Media Type | QuickTime Player can connect to the server, and the server has found the requested file, but the file itself is not a QuickTime streaming movie or it was corrupted by improper file transfer. Did you forget to hint the movie? |
