How to Activate a Streaming Media Directory
Instructions
To activate your streaming media directory (public_media):
- Get your UW NetID and Dante account.
- Go to Manage Your
UW NetID Resources and...
- Login with your UW NetID and password.
- Click the Change your services tab.
- Check the box for Streaming Media in the list of services that are off.
- Click the Continue button.
- Follow the instructions.
About Your Streaming Media Directory
Your streaming media directory functions as a special folder for streaming media files. The activation process creates a shortcut called public_media on your Dante or Homer account to make it easier for you to put files in your streaming media directory.
Because streaming media files are often quite large, your streaming media directory has a 1 Gigabyte disk quota, separate from your regular quota for email, Web pages, and other files associated with your UW NetID. This space is intended for storing only streaming media files. If you require large amounts of disk space for applications other than streaming media, you can request additional disk space be charged to your UW budget.
