Configuring Dreamweaver MX 2004 to use SFTP

Summary

This document describes how to configure Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 for Mac OS X to use the Secure File Transfer Protocol.

Configuring Dreamweaver:

To configure Dreamweaver MX 2004 for Mac OS X to transfer files using SFTP:

  1. Start Macromedia Dreamweaver.
  2. Click the Site menu and select Manage Sites...

    The Manage Sites dialogue box appears.

  3. Select your site from the list on the left and click Edit, or click New to define a new site. The appropriate Site Definition dialogue box will appear.

  4. Select the Remote Info category from the list on the left.

    Select FTP for the Access type, and fill out the account information as you would normally, using Homer, Dante, or shell.myuw.net, public_html/, your UW NetID and password, etc.

    Check Use Secure FTP (SFTP).

  5. Click OK, Done and OK to save the settings and close the dialogue boxes.

  6. You're done! Use Dreamweaver's FTP publish function as you would normally.
