Maximizing Quality

  1. Take care in how you take your pictures
    • Use a tripod, monopod, or anything that is nearby and solid
  2. Compose carefully so you shoot the picture that you want
    • Minimize cropping
  3. More pixels
    • Choose the setting that captures the image into a larger number of pixels
  4. Less compression
    • Set the image quality to "Best" or "Least Compression"
    • Consider saving the image uncompressed, if the option is available
  5. Minimal manipulation of the image
    • Only do the minimum adjustments and use only the most appropriate filters. The objective is to shoot the very best picture possible so it does not need much manipulation.
  6. Calibrate your monitor
    • What you see on the monitor should match what comes out of the printer.
  7. Use appropriate printer paper
    • Glossy surfaces show sharpness, matte surfaces are not so shiny, coarse surfaces can provide a nice effect.
  8. Use a recent printer
    • New printers are both cheap and very good.
