Purpose

The purpose of the Locke Computer Center, formerly known as the Vislab, is to provide a complete facility for the visualization of information, from graphic input to graphic output, and to aid in the understanding or presentation of some academic subject, be it in the sciences, art, humanities, or any other academic discipline. It provides most of the tools needed for computer graphics and Web illustration.

Usage Policies

The Locke is a cost center mainly used for visualization of information, in teaching or research. The lab is usually restricted to faculty, students, and staff who are affiliated with the University of Washington, and visiting scholars. All users must schedule their time and equipment using a a web scheduling system provided in the link below.

Equipment

The equipment includes slide, paper, and film scanners, PC/MAC and workstation WWW displays, camera, video tape, and CD writer, and facilities for video capture and editing of video displays.

Recently a very large HP-3000 color plotter was added to the vislab. It can create color plots 52 inches wide by up to 100 feet long.
