Because IMG elements display inline, the images simply stack horizontally from the right:

Prior or subsequent text in the flow should not overlap the graphics.

Note that repositioned elements may overlap other elements in the normal flow that are in the same block display element.

Preventing overlapping

Provide enough space around the repositioned elements to avoid overlapping nearby elements by enclosing them in an element with sufficent margins or padding.
