PC-PINE CAN DO MORE

This document mainly covers introductory features of PC-Pine. The instructions are limited to using the commands shown in the command line of each PC-Pine screen. PC-Pine, however, also has menus accessible with the mouse. These menus and their contents are:

  • File - Print, Read File, Exit.
  • Edit - Cut, Copy, Copy Append, Paste, Cancel Paste!, Find.
  • Go - Main Menu, List Folders, Index, Goto Folder, Exit Current Mode, Previous Message, Next Message, Jump to Message, Where Is.
  • Message - View, Print, Save, Export, Delete, Flag, Expunge, Take Address, Header Mode, Sort, Select, Apply, Zoom.
  • Send - Compose Message, Reply, Forward, Bounce.
  • Config - Set Window Font, Print Font Same As Window, Set Printer Font, Toolbar, Toolbar on Top, Use Dialog Boxes, IMAP Telemetry
  • Help - General Help, Screen Help, Screen Help in New Window, About

Most of the options available through the pull-down menus are also accessible via the command menu at the bottom of each PC-Pine screen. The pull-down menus just provide an extra way of accessing each command and, depending on what you want to do, may provide a shortcut. There are a few options, however, that are only accessible via the pull-down menus. Play around with using the menus - you may find that some options are easier to access that way. For example, if you go to the Config menu and choose "Toolbar," you'll have easy access to the most commonly used screens and commands (see page 31 for more information).

PC-Pine has many features, some of which have not been covered in this document. If you would like to learn more about PC-Pine:

  • Try all of the commands at the bottom of each PC-Pine screen, including the ones that appear when you press O (Other Cmds).
  • Explore the menus at the top of the PC-Pine window. These menus are accessible by using your mouse and contain menu useful features.
  • Read PC-Pine's online help. It contains tips to help you at every stage of learning PC-Pine. Read about different functions, even those you do not use yet.
  • Explore PC-Pine's other options. To see them, at the Main Menu, select S (Setup). You see a message asking you to choose one of the following tasks:

C (Config) to allow advanced users to set different PC-Pine configurations. (There are many PC-Pine commands that are not available by default and have to be enabled before you can use them.)

S (Signature) to create an email signature. (See page 30 for more information.)

A (AddressBooks) to work with your Address Books. (See page 22 for more information).

L (collectionList) to work with your Collection List.

D (Directory) to set up the LDAP directory server (or other directory servers). (See page 7 for more information.)
