Pine - Program for Internet News and Email

Pine and Pico (Pine's message composition editor) were designed at the University of Washington. The Pine Information Center Web pages provide documentation.

This directory contains a self-installing version of PC-Pine customized for the University of Washington networking environment.

To install PC-Pine:

  1. Download the installer.
  2. Run the file by double-clicking it.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

This version of PC-Pine is configured specifically to work with UW servers* and is available to UW students, faculty and staff. It is offered on the UW Internet Connectivity Kit, or from here:

  • Download PC-Pine 4.64 - 2.44 MB (2,561,536 bytes) self-installing file

Additionally, a version of PC-Pine with Kerberos is available. This version is also configured specifically to work with UW servers* and is available to UW students, faculty and staff.

* UW servers refers to Computing & Communications run mail servers serving @u.washington.edu, @myuw.net, @cac.washington.edu and @washington.edu addresses. These installers may not work for departmental accounts.
