Configuring SnapperMail on Treo

Here is some basic information for configuring SnapperMail to work with the Treo smartphone. It's not as complete a setup as the Blackberry: it does not sync your sent mail with your deskmail sent-mail folder, and there's currently no way to use an addressbook, so you have to enter a fully qualified address each time you compose an email.

Download and install SnapperMail to the device. You need the Enterprise version because it does IMAP4. http://www.snappermail.com/wireless/email/

Open SnapperMail, and tap in the upper left corner to drop down the menu with Messages, Accounts and Options.

Tap Accounts - New Accounts - and IMAP4 account. You're now on the "Edit IMAP4 Account" page, with tabs for Identity, Server and Rules.

  1. At the top of the screen, you can replace the default name of "Account1" with one of your choosing.
  2. Tap on the Server tab. There are two sections, Incoming Mail and Outgoing Mail.
    1. Under Incoming Mail, use the following:
    2. Under Outgoing Mail, use the following:
    3. Click on the More button to go to the Server Settings screen. It has sections for IMAP4 Settings and SMTP Settings.
    4. Click OK, and you'll be back at the Edit IMAP4 Account screen.
    5. Tap on the Rules tab. You can make choices here about how your email is handled
    6. Tap OK again at the Edit IMAP4 Account and then tape on Done.
  3. E-mail Address lookups - this requires using the Treo Address Book, which are the Contacts from the Phone interface
  4. Purging Deleted Messages from the Server inbox - in the Snapper menu, find Messages/Purge Deleted
