Grade sheet For the first time, UW faculty could submit final course grades online using Catalyst GradeBook at the end of Winter Quarter, thanks to a partnering of UW Technology, the Office of Information Management, and the Registrar. Instructors submitted 52,375 grades online, 49 percent of all grades submitted. If you teach, you can do this easily for Spring Quarter, whether or not you use GradeBook throughout the quarter to keep track of grades and display them to students. Learn how online.
Teacher in front of class In order to better understand why and how researchers, instructors, and students use current technologies, several UW units again collaborated for the third triennial, institutional survey about learning and scholarly technologies. You can read the report online, as well as learn more about the collaborators, focus group findings, and the surveys' goals.
Dr. Frank Roberts at an interactive lecturn Helping faculty and students in various UW colleges and programs connect, no matter how many miles separate them, UWTV engineers coordinate the installation of high-tech video and recording systems at UW. A distance learning classroom in the Magnuson Health Sciences Center was recently completed for use by the RIDE (Regional Initiatives in Dental Education) program. This state-of-the-art technology classroom is linking students and instructors at UW Seattle to participating students in Spokane.

Go-green logo Help the UW save trees and money; send email instead of print. The Office of University Advancement and Creative+Communications are partnering with UW units to send professional-looking email messages to large lists of people, using a centralized Web-based tool called Convio. To learn about options for using this tool, contact UW Marketing's E-communications Marketing Manager.
Over 75 free computing-related workshops are offered every quarter by Learning & Scholarly Technologies at UW Seattle for all current UW students, staff, and faculty. The Spring Quarter schedule and workshop descriptions are online.
Help computer key Can't make it to a workshop? Need help now? See the handy How-To Guides on the Learning & Scholarly Technologies online Help Center. You'll find step-by-step instructions for over 50 computing topics, including software programs from Adobe, Apple, and Microsoft, as well as the Catalyst Web Tools.
The new UW College of Arts & Sciences Teaching and Learning Engagement (CASTLE) Web site launched recently. This online, integrated Web resource highlights the efforts of UW faculty, staff, students, and community partners in supporting teacher education and collaborative learning.
