Microsoft Exchange, Outlook, SharePoint, and Office
System Now Offered Centrally
New collaborative tools for email, calendaring, and Web publishing are becoming available to UW faculty and staff. UW Technology has launched an initiative to provide Microsoft productivity and collaboration tools. This Microsoft Collaborative Applications (MSCA) Initiative is sponsored and resourced through a partnership between UW Technology and several UW colleges and departments. The objective of the Initiative is to provide advanced collaboration and personal productivity tools to the university.

Products
- Exchange. The Exchange service offering, called UW Exchange, was officially launched on September 4.
- SharePoint. The UW SharePoint production service was officially launched March 19. UW SharePoint provides Web publishing and collaborative tools, integrated with Microsoft Office. SharePoint communities are forming to share expertise and support. For details, see the UW SharePoint community site.
- Vista and Office 2007. Vista is currently available for customers of UW Technology's Nebula Bronze service. Vista and Office 2007 are in testing for deployment to Nebula Gold customers. Deployment will be phased in, with a beginning date of November 2007.
Partners
This initiative draws upon skills and resources from a number of schools, colleges, and departments across the university. Key contributors include the Information School, School of Nursing, School of Engineering, Graduate School, Business School, College of Forest Resources, and UW Bothell.
Roadmap
This initiative begins the work identified on the MSCA Roadmap, which was developed with key customers and serves as a communication tool to determine needs, set priorities, and sequence work.
