Title:  Why does WebPine often flash a little box that I can't read?

Sometimes when WebPine is open, I notice a little white box open, but it
closes before I can read it. What's going on?

Answer:
The mysterious little box you're noticing is a part of the WebPine 
program.  The box appears when WebPine checks the server for new messages.
Sometimes the check may be quick enough that you don't notice the extra 
box, but lengthier checks may happen if the server is busy or new mail is 
detected.
