Title: How do I save messages to a folder?
Question:
I want to save some of my messages to a folder - can I still do
that?
Answer:
There is a "Save" function that you can use while you are reading messages
and when looking at your list of messages.
Saving While Reading a Message:
-------------------------------
When you are reading a message you will see controls at the top that stay
fixed in place and look rather like this:
[Reply] ... [Forward] ... [Save] to [saved-messages|v] ...
The control "[saved-messages|v]" is actually a drop down list that
initially contains three items:
saved-messages
[folder I type in]
[folder in folder list]
but as you store messages in different folders, it expands up to eight
items, six of which are folder names. If you click the [Save] button, the
current message is stored in the folder that appears at the top of the
list (initially this is "saved-messages"]. But as you save messages in
different folders, the most recent folder is stored at the top of the list
and pushes the others down until the least recently used folder is lost.
If you expand the drop down list you can save a message by clicking on any
folder name in the list, or you can type in the name of a folder, or
browse to a desired folder.
Saving a Message from the Message List:
---------------------------------------
In the message list screen, the "Save" function, among others, is hidden
to save space. In addition, it may scroll off the visible area of the
screen as you view messages.
From the message list screen, do the following to save a message:
(a) Click the checkbox to the left of a message (or messages) that you
wish to save.
(b) Scroll to the top of the list to gain access to the controls
(c) There are two sets of powerful controls that may or may not be exposed
at the top of your list of messages. If they are not fully exposed
they appear as tiny rectangular icons near the left edge and just
above the message list and look somewhat like this: [> ]. Click on
these icons to expose them. The set of interest here looks like this:
Search and Mark Message Status Save Messages
[Search] [Show...] [Set] status [...] [Save] to [saved-messages|v]
(d) Save the message(s) you checked by selecting the folder you want in
the [saved-messages|v] drop down list, or typing the name of a
folder, or browsing to a folder.
