Title: Can I control the display of messages in WebPine?
Question:
I don't like the way that messages are listed in WebPine. Am I stuck with
the current display or can I format it the way I want? For example, can I
remove the message numbers?
Answer:
Yes: WebPine has a powerful and easy way to change how your messages are
displayed. By default, your messages are formatted as a set of fields
that are listed as follows:
# Date From|To Date Size Subject|Ordered Subject|Thread
[ ] 9 Aug 5 John Doe Aug 5 (5178) This message blah blah blah ...
If you click on the [Configure] button in the left hand green column and
select the tab named [Message List] at the top of the window that pops up,
you will see an area named "Message Line Format" that lets you manipulate
the elements of these fields. You can move fields left or right, widen or
narrow them, and delete or add fields.
For example, if you wish to delete the numbers that appear to the left of
each message, click the radio button just below the field named "MSGNO",
select "Remove Field" from the drop down list, and click the [Change]
button. Then click the [Save] button in the upper left corner to save the
new configuration.
You can also add new fields by selecting a field from the drop down list
just to the right of the button named [Add Field]. For example, if you
wish to replace the short "Date" field with a full date, you do this:
1. Delete the current "Date" field
2. Select "LONGDATE" from the drop down list to the right of the
[Add Field] button
3. Click the [Add Field] button
4. Select the radio button under the "LONGDATE" field and use
one of the [Move Field/Change] buttons to move it to the desired
position
